Atmosphere and staff: Rouge is owned and run by Rachel and Sarah, who are also the salon’s main beauticians. An independent salon with four treatment rooms and a small reception area, it has a relaxing atmosphere. Soft, soothing music plays in the background, and attentive and friendly staff offer a personal and courteous service.

Products and treatments: Chosen for its ultra-luxurious feel and use of plant extracts and aromatherapy, Darphin is the brand of choice for most of the salon’s treatments, including its Haute Couture facial. Lasting one hour and 45 minutes, it is designed to leave the complexion glowing and the client relaxed. As well as an extensive range of beauty treatments, including waxing, fake tan and manicures and pedicures, Rouge also has therapists trained in CACI – the non-surgical facelift – and microdermabrasion using natural wheatgerm.

Staff: The skilled and professional staff are constantly encouraged to update their qualifications to increase the range and quality of services offered.

Highs: The personal service, huge array of treatments and the twice-weekly late-night openings.

Lows: It can be tricky finding a parking space near the salon.
