Atmosphere: Leon London is the latest salon to open its doors on George Street, joining the likes of Daniel Galvin to make Marylebone the burgeoning grooming mecca of London. White panelled walls, black chandeliers and mirrored partitions make for a sleek, sophisticated salon. With only eight chairs, it’s intimate and very personal.
Treatment and staff: Don’t visit Leon London if you want a quick, in-and-out job. Both Leon Fancetti, the salon’s owner, and colour director Christopher Walton pride themselves on providing a one-on-one, personalised service. Leon London won’t make appointments that are shorter than one and a half hours, to ensure all consultations are thorough and individual, and offers complimentary champagne to make the experience enjoyable. Our spy left with a cut and colour worthy of a celebrity. Christopher’s catchphrase is “Mother Nature is the best colourist” and he aimed to create a shade that enhanced our spy’s naturally strawberry locks. Leon, who has spent 20 years working as a stylist in Paris, recommended a cut that took out a lot of the weight of our spy’s hair and framed the face to deliver a hairstyle with movement and life.
Highs: Leather chairs that will massage your back as your hair is washed.
Lows: Our spy had to come to terms with the fact she really is a redhead.
Marks out of five: Four and a half.
