The Almyra is a beautifully designed hotel with a stunning view over the Med. It’s family-friendly, with a children’s club, but couples will also find privacy. The spacious new suites open on to gardens with private daybeds. The Japanese/Mediterranean Notios restaurant faces out to sea.

Atmosphere: The new spa is a child-free zone of natural wood with a slate floor. Surrounding the infinity pool are chic double daybeds with waiter service from the deli-style café.

Treatments: The spa has a holistic approach to its products, using those with natural ingredients and organic plant extracts produced according to the rhythms of the moon. Our spy chose the revitalising Just Pure Tastes of the Sea signature treatment, which focuses on removing toxins from the skin. After an all-over sea-salt scrub, a red algae mask enveloped the body in a firm wrap to allow minerals to be absorbed. Then the therapist, Leanne, gave a deeply relaxing algae-oil massage. A tailor-made calming facial included a massage and oxygenating steam and cleanse; and an Osea mask, using products derived from the sea, finished the treatment on a serene high.

Highs: The sexy-chic outdoor location, perfect for rejuvenating mind and body.

Lows: The indoor sauna and steam rooms felt rather unloved.
