Whoever devised this absurdly upscale treatment is either an ex-employee of Goldman Sachs or they’re one of life’s eternal optimists. Either way, if you’ve ever wanted to feel like a Bond girl, this is the one for you. Evidently, Cleopatra used to sleep in gold to maintain her youthful appearance, and although the science behind this procedure is bafflingly vague – something to do with Gamma PGA, negative ions (which are “healthy”, apparently), LED light therapy and Ultrasonic Nano Mist – the effects are real enough: it reduces fine lines and tones and brightens skin. Mirka, the lovely therapist, applies gold-leaf sheets, which form a face mask beneath the pleasant misting effect of the UMO Facial Spa – an ultrafine spray of a skin-rejuvenating serum. Every last speck of gold is then massaged into the skin to ensure you get maximum bang for your buck.
