How can I improve my make-up without looking too made-up (as that seems to show the wrinkles more)? I have an added problem because I have brown spots on my face and arms.
Hazel Hooley
Sarah says: To address the problem of brown spots, I recommend Caudalíe’s anti-dark spot range. The Radiance Serum (£42; caudalie.com) will soften the intensity of pigmentation and help prevent new spots from appearing; you can use it in conjunction with the Night Correcting and Day Perfecting creams, £34.50 each (the day cream has an SPF of 15, which is crucial in prevention).
Make-up wise, I would opt for a light foundation, augmented with concealer around the eyes. I can tell from your glasses that you are quite short-sighted (like me!), which means your eyes appear smaller behind your spectacles. What you want to do is minimise dark circles and brighten the eye area. Choose a concealer a little brighter than your skin tone. Boots No 7 Intelligent Colour Foundation (£14.75) would be ideal, with its Instant Radiance Concealer (£12.75). Apply the foundation to moisturised skin. Dot the concealer under your eyes, and in the inside corners. Finally, Bobbi Brown’s Earth Metal Lip and Eye Palette (£48; bobbibrown.co.uk) has six great eye shades and four lip colours, two of which double as blusher – and will last you ages.
