Sir Paul McCartney said that his divorce from Heather Mills was like “going through hell”.
Speaking for the first time since negotiations between the couple broke down last week, Sir Paul, 65, told the Radio Times that he wanted to remain dignified. He said: “Going through a divorce is a very painful thing. As Winston Churchill once said, ‘If you’re going through hell, keep going!’ The only solution is to remain dignified. But I’ve a wonderful baby. She’s a great joy to me, as are my elder children, so I’m a lucky man. It’s been a difficult time. But music is a great healer.”
Sir Paul, who wed Ms Mills, 39, in 2002, failed to reach an agreement with the mother of his three-year-old daughter, Beatrice, last week. It is thought that the settlement could be the biggest in British legal history.
Sir Paul said that rumours that he had become romantically entangled with Renée Zellweger and Rosanna Arquette, both actresses, or with Christie Brinkley, a model, were untrue.

Colin Finlay, Marlow,
Words are just that and woman cannot be tarnished or all thrown into the same category of "gold digger" and I definately DONOT want to imply that, However in this situation, everyone with half a brain probably suspected what her intentions were from the start but they are just opinions - Bottom line - ACTIONS talk louder than words and her actions are of a gold digger abusing the UK divorce laws which are so out dated its unbelievable. Regardless of how much paul is worth what should be considered is the length of the relationship, what each party brought to the table and their contributions - YES Paul has to meet his obligations for his family, but how could any person in their right mind think She has done anything to deserve such a payout? No idea what an anual salary that works out for her (excluding the life style and funds she has had access to during the "relationship") but you can guarantee its significantly higher than most MD`s and cheif excs get in any ft100 company.
Fred, Romford, Essex
I sincerley hope she is denied the title 'Lady' once the divorce is finalised, the title was afterall bestowed upon him for his contribution, can't see much that she has contributed, in fact, quite the opposite.
simon p, australia,
Paul is right divorce is like going through hell. I too have been through this. Re-married too quickly (in my case after foirst divorce) and have been taken the cleaners by second wife - only a short marriage. What's the solution ?
1. Open up the courts - they are closed at the moment and hence not held accountable.
2. Make it like Scotland - what you bring in is what you take out. It may be that you have to wait until kids are grown up but hey that's normally OK.
3. In todays society all women can support themselves the concept that women cannot or should not work is flawed. Yes the kids need a Mum but when they are at school there are at least 5-6 hours a day they can work
when they are small. More if the kids do afterschool activites.
Never marry too quickly ! Paul is handling this very well IMHO. Well done and a example that others should follow.

This is about money. Heather targeted him, Best to set the money to fit the amount of time they were together.
Pamela Patterson, Weybridge, UK
i think it is him who should be ashame wanting to hang on to all that money.he has had a child with her and i am sure like most women in a divorce she has good reasons for divorcing him so. stop thinking paul mc carteney is so great .i for my part always take women side for they normaly put up with a lot from men.

Typical of the moeny grabbing women we breed in Europe. Never get married or involved , especially to this female, put her back in the gutter were she belongs
gary neale, coventry,
Jayne of Worcester, you are a disgrace to your sex! It is exactly your kind of hard-faced cynical attitude that gives rise to the supposition that women only marry rich men for their money. I feel sorry for you. I hope you learn to be more positive about life.
Ed Dirben, Warwick,
i think he wed far to early , his first wife had not been long dead from breast cancer. as breast cancer patient iwould hate to think my husband married straight away if i had died. and at the time i was going through cancer the same time as linda. i had said this was far to an early wedding. she a gold digger by the looks
janet, northants, uk
Surely there should be some sort of law whereby a settlement should be based on the length of the relationship and what contribution both parties have made? I don't just mean monetary contributions.. This may lead us to believe the settlement in this case should be moderate.
pilgrim, derby,
Once again the state are encouraging women to look upon men as a paid for life pension. There is an odd parralel here the PM gets a pension for life, that starts when he leaves, once he has taken the job even if he remains in it for an hour. A woman gets an immediate pension for life once she sleeps with her husband and gets pregnant, again she only has to do it once.
Government want stronger families? stop encouraging the madness that is marriage and start discouraging kids for cash
Gav, essex, england
Takes two to tango. This is never one sided.
KENNETH FOSTER, coleshill, warwks. uk
The words gold digger and bunny boiler spring to mind here. I think she was after the money and child from the start. Why the courts give this type of woman house room is beyond me, she gives decentl women a bad name. But some comfort is that no man in his right mind will touch her next time. She didn't have a huge lifestyle before and why she needs to live the 50million lifestyle after is beyond me.
Lynda, Raunds, UK
That'why, in vedic culture, boys and girls are not allowed to intermingle before marriage. At the beginning of youth, any person satisfys some one sexually for the first time, he or she feels very much attached to each him or her. That feeling, if not spoiled by mixing with any other person sexually, then this love and trust and feelings become very strong and it can last long. On the other hand at the early youth if they are allowed to mix with any person, then they do not feel there is any thing special with his or her married partner. Problem is from the beginning. There is no point in pouring water on top of the tree, if the root is spoiled. These things are needed to be thoght about very deeply. We are not animals, we have got societ, we have to bring up our children, educate them etc. If the parents break up, that becomes very difficult for the children as well. They do not find a role model to follow
Acharya Das, Leicester, United Kingdom
Heather Mills should not get a penny, Paul was just a mark to her, and having a child, just a ploy to gain a meal ticket for life.
The courts should not encourage this sort of thing as it only leads others to try it on as well.
She will have no difficulty selling her 'story' to the tabloids, but then, no other wealthy man would touch her with a barge pole.
It's all very sad when men marry for love, and women marry for money.
Clive Burghard, LANCING, ENGLAND
GOLDEN RULE : if you are male and have wealth DONT MARRY ! As a general rule women cannot be trusted and in the long run and will tend to take you for all they can get ! BE WARNED !
