When did you decide you wanted to model?

I was spotted at The Clothes Show in Birmingham in 1996. The thought of getting a free ride down to London was enough to turn my head.

Did you have a female role model who inspired you when you were younger?

I guess my first role model was She-Ra – Princess of Power! She had all the admirable qualities of a woman, as well as being strong enough to hold her own.

Can women have it all?

We still have to fight for it in some parts of the world. But it’s the fight that gives women their strength; that and their humility.

What’s your greatest achievement?

It would have to be surrendering to defeat – it’s made me a survivor in an industry that can be unpredictable.

What has been the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome?

I suppose my lack of confidence and extreme shyness hindered me as a child.
