Oh la la, looks like fizz is definitely on the menu next season. Knitting-needle-in-a-wig Paris Hilton is launching her own champagne. Rich Tesco – apologies, Rich Prosecco – is set to be le dernier cri in all things fluted. Oh, the bittersweet taste of irony. Wasn’t it only last year that the long arm of the law felt La Hilton’s pink velour collar when she was charged with drink-driving? Indeed it was. A year is a long time in Tinseltown, and her latest alcoholic endeavour is all about giving back. A mammoth 20% of profits from sales of her luxury fizz – lovingly suspended in a striking gold tin can – will be donated to charity, helping to provide drinking water for those born into less fortunate circumstances. As Hilton has probably pointed out to friends: “Some children in Africa have never even tasted champagne.” This, of course, is a terrible tragedy. Long live Hilton’s brand of champagne socialism.
