PEARL LOWE, 38, is a fashion designer who lives in Somerset with her fiancé, the musician Danny Goffey, and their three children. They are due to marry this week. She has another daughter, Daisy, from a previous relationship

* My mother wanted me to be a fashion designer and I had a place at Central St Martins, which I never took. Now I’m doing everything she wanted me to, only 20 years later.

* I guess Daisy is really famous now, because I’m told she is. I had to have a bit of a talk with her recently. She was being chased on motorbikes by the paps, and I said: “You have to stop going out so much. Just retreat. You can always get away from it if you want to.”

* People think I’m this shallow socialite. And I guess, at one point, I was. But that’s been kicked out of me.

* I used to live my life by mediums and psychics, but now I know that we create our own future.

* Having kids is the most beautiful thing and the hardest thing that Danny and I have been through. We’re both sociable, but children and too many friends in the house don’t mix.

* When you have kids, you can’t have an ego. They’ve taught me to be unselfish. Sometimes I go to bed at 9.30pm and think, “Is this it?”

* I don’t like getting older. I love who I am, but it isn’t nice looking in the mirror. Somebody will invent something to stop the ageing process, but it’ll be too late for my generation.

* I’ve had enough of being a rebel. It didn’t get me anywhere.
