What we thought: Disappointing. The opening scenes consist of a frighteningly cheesy exchange between the two dance teachers, one of whom recites the classic line from the film ‘I carried a watermelon’.

You can learn some of the moves from the film - although not the flying lift. For fitness, it doesn’t stand out from any other DVD, but obviously has the music from the film.

What it says on the box: An introduction to ‘dynamic free flow’ yoga practice

The idea: The Bollywood superstar caught at the centre of a race row on celebrity Big Brother explains how she maintains inner peace – while also getting fit.

What we thought: Shilpa slowly takes you through easy-to-folllow poses, explaining each one as she goes.

Cringe factor: Throughout her speaking parts, Shilpa switches from one beautiful Kerala location to another. Although the backdrops are undeniably breathtaking, when the elephants rode past, we felt things had gone a bit too far.

What it says on the box: This encompasses every component from fitness to strength

The idea: A no-frills exercise video that promises to be effective.

What we thought: It didn’t have the exotic locations of Shilpa’s Yoga workout, but if you want an exercise video that does what it says on the tin, this is for you.
