Rip your Seven For all Mankind jeans, and trowel on the eyeliner, Harrod’s latest event will be music to fashionistas’ ears, literally. Harrods Rocks - a month long celebration of the electric guitar - will feature a Jeans for Genes fashion show, a denim bar, the world’s most expensive guitar studded with diamonds, live performances and guitar masterclasses (follow Sid Vicious’s advice, ‘You just pick a chord, go twang and you’ve got music.) There is also a collection of guitars customised by style luminaries such as Diane von Furstenberg, Christopher Bailey, David La Chapelle and Hedi Slimane, (pictured). Frock and roll.
Up close and personal at Superdrug
We may be on the cusp of an arctic winter and covering up every bare inch of skin but our moles still matter – especially to Superdrug. The high street store is spearheading a health initiative with mole clinics currently running in three of their London stores. By linking with The Mole Clinic they can provide the equipment and clinical expertise for the sessions. Held in Superdrug’s pharmacy consulting rooms customers can book a one to one consultation from £45. The following stores are participating: 213 Oxford Street, (020 7439 0793); 232 High Holborn (020 7404 6912) and 50 The Strand (020 7930 2210).
Suits you, madam
It’s a bit of a catch 22- you need to look sharp to get a pay rise, but you need a pay rise to afford a sharp suit - around a cool £1,000 on Savile Row. Austin Reed's new ‘Tailor Made For Women’ range means you can get a semi-bespoke suit without having to work two jobs at once. Offering customers a selection of jacket shapes – single or double breasted, number of buttons – as well as trousers or skirt fit and lining, the service means you can add individual touches to your office uniform. And don’t worry, you aren’t going to have a man measuring your inside leg, the consultants are all women. Prices from £500.
Twinkle toes
So far in the rich tapestry of the luxury product we’ve had the crème de la mer pot encrusted with a Theo Fennell diamond; the Swarovski crystal encrusted bra; and who could ever forget the oh-so wearable Balenciaga gold rubix cube leggings, selling for a piffling £210,780. So to what new lengths will the world’s most competitive designers go in order to top the luxury league? Cue Olivia Morris, who has entered the race with a gold shoe. But is this any old shoe? Oh no.This has a 24 carat gold-plated heel. ''I wanted to do something super luxurious" says the designer. “I wanted to push the boundaries of what makes a shoe. The idea that gold is normally associated with jewellery made it the most obvious and interesting material to use.'' The shoes will be sold exclusively at Dover Street Market for £389. Now you wouldn’t want to scuff those in a hurry would you?
