We love wide belts and flattering feminine dresses, but what about the not-so-great ideas the fashion folk were purveying last week?
Helmet Hair
Remember the hair on Lego men? That seemed the follicular inspiration at both Rodnik (black wigs) and Paul Costello (blond wigs). About as likely to catch on ginger dreadlocks.
Harry Potter spectacles
Seen at Paul Smith the look was bookish, evoking Harry and Hogwarts – a look no self-respecting 20-plus woman would be seen dead in outside her own home. Thankfully no broomsticks in sight.
Gareth Pugh mouse cape
A superb show with a superb cape – literally made of tens of woollen 3D mice. Medieval, wicked, whimsical but totally unwearable.
Mint humbugs
Horizontal black-and-white stripes were seen not only on the clothes at PPQ and Julien MacDonald but also at hip, new and exclusive club Bungalow 8. They look much better on hard-boiled sweets.
Agyness Deyn clones
A white blonde crop and contrasting dark eyebrows looks strangely cool on the model that everyone wants to call the new Kate Moss, but it doesn’t quite cut it with anyone other than her – especially not the men.

Whats wrong with Harry Potter glasses,,lets face it every teenager and nearly every adult in the world knows about them..and lets face it an older teenager in the next 5 years becomes the top advertising target and top spender...as they say give the consummer what they expect,,,,lets face it with the amount of world publicity received by Harry Potter the film should be effecting fashion

Why do the designers, so frequently hailed as "geniuses" appear completely incapable of producing clothes which look good on anyone other than a six foot tall 7 stone model?
AnneM, Dublin,
I was flicking through the pictures on the slide show of this particular article and I have to say, I was seriously disturbed by the state of the legs of the model in picture 8!
I'm not going to wear anything advertised by a girl like that. I refuse to be linked to that sort of image.
Emma, dartford,
Noooooooooooooooo! Not crop tops! I was so happy that tops were getting longer again! Now they'll start scrimping on fabric again and life will get awfully draughty (not to mention highly unflattering) once more.
