Q. I loathe my flabby upper arms and dread summer when shops are full of skimpy tops and dresses. Are there any flattering-but-fabulous arm-covering styles out there?

. Thank God for the flutter-sleeve, a loose, flirty sleeve that dangles off many of the season’s best pieces, including Matthew Williamson summer frock (£800, from Browns; www.brownsfashion.com). The flutters cover your problem area, but with its plunging neckline and swinging skirt, the dress is still sexy. There are lots of kaftan-inspired dresses and tops around, too, many with loose sleeves, such as Duro Olowu’s patterned silk frocks (£500, from Harrods; 020 7730 1234), or Antik Batik’s highly patterned kaftans (from £215; 020 7376 3557). Topshop has plenty of pretty, flutter-sleeve kaftan tops that cost from about £30 (www.topshop.co.uk), and Warehouse has flutter-sleeve dresses from £40 (www.warehousefashion.com).

Q. I’m a new mum and need a practical bag to carry all my baby bits. Is there anything stylish around?

A. Yes, there is. Petit Planet has come up with a great new bag range specially designed for fashionable mums (www.planet21group.com/petitplanet). There are five different styles; my favourite comes in red, brown or white leather, trimmed with matching ponyskin. From the outside, it looks like something by Marc Jacobs. Inside, there’s a changing mat, a thermal bottle-holder and lots of pockets for all your baby gubbins. The leather bags cost from £139, but the nylon version costs from £40 (from the end of this month, from John Lewis and selected Waitrose Food and Home; www.johnlewis.com).

Q. I’m looking for a non-wired bra that is still sexy. Does such a thing exist?

A. It does, although, if you are well endowed, it’s best to go for the support of an underwire — droopy is not sexy. Agent Provocateur’s Mesh range features a non-wired triangle bra in semisheer black mesh (£68, with matching knickers; 020 7243 1292). It also stocks a bra called Jolene (£55) in sheer mesh, with a saucy fringe at the front. Calvin Klein has a sheer triangle bra made from delicate lace (£29), with matching panties (£17; 020 7290 5900). Malizia by La Perla has a saucy, pale-pink mesh triangle bra with delicately embroidered, non-wired cups for £36 (www.figleaves.com).

Q. My brother wants to wear a white linen suit to his school prom. Where can he buy a well-priced one, and what colour shirt would look good with it?

A. Topman has an elegant, single-breasted white suit that costs £90 for the jacket, and £40 for the trousers (www.topman.co.uk). Cornflower blue is a classic colour to wear with it, or he could try dark brown.
