What is your favourite item in your wardrobe? I love Manolo Blahnik shoes. My son makes me feel so guilty, though - he looks in my cupboard and says, “Mum, you have more shoes than anyone else in the world.”

What is your fall-back outfit? I love jeans - coming from Texas, we're brought up in them. Jeans go in and out of fashion, but I always love them.

What is your one piece of fashion or beauty advice? Sleep is the best beauty advice - and not drinking too much alcohol. In terms of fashion, if your daughter starts wearing something, you should stop. My daughters take my clothes, but I never take theirs.

Biggest fashion faux pas? Shoulder pads in the 1980s. For someone like me, who is 5ft 11in, it was just too much.

What aspect of fashion do you hate the most? The way all fashion magazines promote cosmetic surgery. I find it repulsive and offensive. Beauty is about intelligence, spirituality, being elegant and happy. Good cheek bones also help.

How do you think people perceive you from the way you dress? They probably think I'm more glamourous than I am, because when I go out, I like to dress up and have my hair done. Sometimes people who don't know me so well are surprised when they come for Sunday lunch and I'm dressed casually with my hair up.

If you could steal anyone's wardrobe - past or present, fictional or real - whose would it be and why? I love all of Marlene Dietrich's dresses - her figure was amazing.

If you could change one part of your body, what would it be? Smaller feet, so that I didn't need to have my shoes specially made. I am a size 42 and order several pairs at the start of each season.

What are your five desert island staples? Crème de la Mer face and body cream. A conditioner I get in Texas called Michael Motorcycle - it's super strength. Also a duvet, the complete works of Marcel Proust and a kaftan.

What is a typical day in the life of Jerry? I'm usually promoting a project so I'll do radio and television interviews. I do a lot of voiceovers, too. I generally get up at 7am and have breakfast with the children. I'm writing my autobiography at the moment so when I can motivate myself, I write that. I always go to bed early and read.
