Prince Harry as a style icon? Surely not. But if the Voyage designers Rocky Mazzilli and his mother, Louise, are to be believed, the swastika is the new black. It seems that Harry’s “Gestapo look”, otherwise known as the biggest fancy dress disaster since the invention of French maids, may have been the inspiration for their new collection, Year 0. And the reaction from the public was also perfectly in tune with the Prince: the designers were unceremoniously ejected from a Soho nightclub for upsetting revellers with their swastika-print garments this weekend. “My interpretation of the swastika is of anarchy, rebellion and nonconformism. Isn’t that what London’s clubs believe in, too?” asks Rocky. Note to self: if heading to Soho, avoid leather trenchcoats, knee-high boots and small, square moustaches.
Intergalactic cycle couriers
So you’ve tried giant wedges, cocoon coats and jumpsuits and now you need a harder “unwearable trend” fix. Look no further than metallic leggings. Topshop has them in silver (£15) and American Apparel in silver, gold and copper (£25) and Pam Hogg has done them for next season. If you can carry them off without looking like an intergalactic cycle courier crossed with a roll of Bacofoil, you will wow fashion pioneers everywhere.
Fruity face mask
If your bathroom cupboard resembles a chemistry lab, it’s time to go natural. Throw out your £300 La Prairie caviar lift and head to the fruit market. The facialist Kirsty McLeod is so impressed with the antioxidant, brightening effects of raspberries, blueberries and strawberries that she has designed a fruity face mask. To make the Kirsty McLeod Berry Oat Mask, purée a cup of mixed berries with a cup of rolled oats, a tablespoon of runny honey and six almonds. Leave on the face for 15 minutes, then rinse to reveal a clearer, vitamin C-boosted skin. Delicious.
