What is your favourite item in your wardrobe?
My black leather jacket. I bought it about three years ago, so it’s perfectly worn in and goes with everything.
What is your fall-back outfit?
For an evening out it would be my black Preen dress. I love wearing it — it holds me in in all the right places. I add a gold Fendi cuff and black heels for extra impact.
How do your stage and off-stage clothes differ?
Styling is incredibly important to the band. As we don’t have vocals, we need a strong visual impact. So I dress up a lot more on stage. I draw the line at tight body-con dresses though. Thankfully, we never fight over who wears what.
What is your one piece of fashion or beauty advice?
Moisturise every day and don’t follow trends blindly.
What has been your biggest fashion faux pas?
I went through a worrying skater stage in my late teens. My jeans were so long and baggy that they brought the dirt from the streets inside.
What aspect of fashion do you dislike?
The myth that you have to spend a lot of money; today there is no lag between the catwalk and high street. If you have a good eye, it’s easy to look good on a budget.
If you could steal anyone’s wardrobe — past or present, fiction or reality — whose would it be and why?
Chloë Sevigny’s; she has fun, always looks great and doesn’t seem like she tries too hard. Recently, I saw a photo of her wearing a Louis Vuitton orange skirt and tribal shoes with her hair all messed up: she looked fab.
If you could change one part of your body, which would it be?
I would love to have longer legs and bigger hair. Vicky [one of Taysa’s band mates] has long red hair that goes on forever. I need an hour with the hairdresser to get it looking half as thick.
What are your five desert-island staples?
My dog, sun cream, my cello, lots of mascara and a selection of good books that I haven’t yet read.
What is a fashion Day in the Life of Taysa Hodges?
When we have press appearances or a gig, we end up changing about three times a day. Otherwise, it’s just normal smart clothes. If I’m getting ready alone at home it takes me an hour; it takes three times as long for gigs.
