2 for 1 tickets to Casablanca, this coming Monday

Stringent security measures before a Nato summit in Bucharest next week to be attended by George Bush and Gordon Brown, irritated Bogdan Surdu, 29, a web designer, so much that he posted an internet ad offering his terrace with a clear view of the conference hall as a “sniper position” for rent at a price of €5,000 a day.
Dozens of people answered, including those claiming to belong to al-Qaeda and the CIA. But Romanian security services failed to see the joke. He has now been put under observation and has been classed as a potential security threat.

He hasn't been put under any special observation. The entire area is put under observation, which I think is normal (I live in Bucharest, too).
But what's funniest is that National TV Channel (TVR1) and the national newspaper "Gandul" didn't get it and thet warned about terrorist threats!
I kept on laughing for about 15 minutes!
We really like good jokes, you know!
And about airport security: some weeks ago, reporters from Academia Catavencu (which used to be nation's funniest newspaper) entered restricted areas of Airport Baneasa (the second one of the Bucharest) without any permit, and wearing helmet with "Al Quaeda construction company" written on them. Also, they had small toys which look like grenades.
The chief of airport security didn't laugh, because he was demised.

This was HUMOUR? Let's see how funny this knucklehead finds being under scrutiny by security and law enforcement agencies.

The actions of Bogdan Surdu must be condemned as foolish - BUT his frustrations with the Government security measures are real.
What country in the world would take measures to shut down its economy by closing the international airport (most flights) & roads so that they can "show off" to NATO.
Typical communist approach - the Government of a Democratic country serves its people, & does not take actions to destroy the economy albeit for a short period........
Richard, Bucharest,
Well, there was a touch of humor in the idea of free advertising. It is
also quite a hoot to read silly statements, from individuals who still are
blissfully unaware, they are living in the shadow of the Fabian Socialist
coat of arms in Surrey.
It will be tough to attempt to save yourself with a fork Elwin, so good luck with your subways and such remembering that one day, the need for action may actually come, and where will you have been?
It was Chamberlain I believe, that sent most of Europe to subjugation
and when the war was over, the socialists returned. We too might be
ruined by socialist idiocy in the end, but I am personally glad the electricity had been cut off to the plastic shredders in Iraq. One never knows how it will all end, but be assured, you do not know.
I personally am not fond of Bush for my own reasons, but I long
ago realized government owned papers rarely do more than feed the lemmings. Godspeed to all of you, and us as well.

And they ALL wanted to off GwB...
