Martin O'Neill, the Aston Villa manager, looks certain to ring the changes for the second-leg clash with Litex Lovech at Villa Park.

O'Neill has fielded the same side for Aston Villa's first six Barclays Premier League games which has seen them climb into the top four, but players James Milner, Brad Guzan, Craig Gardner, Carlos Cuellar, Zat Knight, Wayne Routledge, Isaiah Osbourne and Moustapha Salifou could come into the reckoning against Litex, with Villa 3-1 up from the opening encounter.

O'Neill may take the opportunity to rest the likes of Brad Friedel, Luke Young, Martin Laursen, Curtis Davies, Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor from his starting side ahead of Sunday's Barclays Premier League match at Chelsea.

"I will make some changes but we need to get through," O'Neill said. " I think that is fundamental. The group stages is something we want to be involved in.

"It gives us a chance to play European football up until Christmas time and I just think it would be great if we could achieve that.
