ON A FLIGHT from Palma with Flyglobespan, our case was 3½kg over 20kg and we were asked to pay extra. No problem. But then staff demanded our hand luggage also be weighed as part of the excess charge. We pointed to our passenger confirmation, expressly indicating under the baggage icon “the maximum weight for checked-in baggage is 20kg per passenger”. It turns out that this allowance includes cabin bags. Is this just another way to cover increased fuel costs? Fred Laing, Glasgow
FLYGLOBESPAN REPLIES: “Flyglobespan is sorry that Mr Laing misunderstood the baggage policy; however, this is stated clearly in the terms and conditions, which passengers agree to when making a booking. The rule is also made clear if travellers click through from the baggage icon on the passenger confirmation to book a case into the hold.”
